Monday Paintings

Monday Paintings 2020-21

Untitled painting by Jennette Creamer c. 1960.

Created during the Covid-19 pandemic, Monday Paintings is a series based on an original oil painting made by my grandmother, Jennette Creamer (b. 1912 d. 2005), an amateur artist working in Massachusetts from the 1950’s to the 1970’s.

The paintings are made using a combination of analog and digital techniques, including a computer controlled machine that applies the paint. The digital code controlling the brushwork is identical for each image, but the paint is manually remixed for each piece. The resulting differences in hue, value, saturation, and paint viscosity make every painting distinct.

Scaled slightly smaller than the original, the new paintings have been created at a size where they can be efficiently mailed to friends and family.
